Engaging with politicians online

Workshop session

This session aims to help people understand how to better interact with and influence politicians when they campaign online, and how politicians are trying to use new media to influence their voters. We’ll be hearing from politicians and political insiders about what works best, and outline where the parties currently stand online.

Speakers:

  • Matthew McGregor (Blue State Digital)
    Matthew works for Blue State Digital, an online technology and strategy agency. His background is in campaigns for unions, NGOs and the Labour party.
  • Tom Watson MP
    Tom is the Labour MP for West Bromwich East, and held several Government posts, including focusing on digital issues at the cabinet office.
  • Rachel Gibson (University of Manchester)
    Rachel Gibson is Professor of Political Science at the Institute for Social Change (ISC), University of Manchester.
