Twitter 101: Why activists need to tweet

Tutorial session

Have you considered using Twitter but not sure where to start? Or do you (or your organisation) already have a Twitter account but you’d like to get more out of the social network? If so then this workshop is for you.

During this 90 minute session we will take a look at:

  • Why you should use Twitter – an overview of the network and how it’s had an impact so far.
  • Twitter functionality – from understanding the basic features to looking at some more advanced techniques and tools.
  • Case studies of how Twitter has been used for campaigning and for fundraising.
  • Success stories from Oxfam and other organisations.
  • Tracking and analysis on Twitter.

The session will be a combination of presentations and interactive workshops. There will be computers on hand to use, so be prepared to try out some of the ideas and techniques presented during the session.

Please note: This session uses a computer training room, and places will be strictly limited. You can apply in advance by contacting us through this site.

Tutor:

  • Richard Casson (Oxfam GB)
Richard is a campaigner for Oxfam.  Since joining Oxfam in 2007 he has managed campaigns across a range of digital media including websites, email, social networks and online video.
